Established in 2008 Exeter Foodbank is an independent charity founded on Christian principles, and part of the Trussell Trust’s UK network of foodbanks. Our mission statement is ‘restoring dignity and reviving hope’. We are inspired and motivated by the love God has shown to us, and the desire to demonstrate that same love in very practical and tangible ways to some of the most vulnerable people in Exeter. We follow the words of Jesus in Matthew (25: 35) ‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink’. These values are important to us and we aim to live them out in all areas of our work.
The Foodbank currently employs two part-time members of staff and is supported by a committed team of over 150 volunteers. A well-established project, last year the Foodbank provided three days of emergency food and support to 5,530 people in crisis in the city. Having grown so much the current volunteer led management/trustee team is now looking to employ a part time logistics support worker. This is a rewarding and challenging role and the successful candidate will be joining the Foodbank at an exciting time in its development.
The successful candidate must have a clean driving licence and be prepared to undertake manual handling. The role will mainly involve the general upkeep, stock control and organization of the Foodbank store and assisting with regular distribution centre restocks.
This advert is for a fixed-term position of six months with a view to extension thereafter, for a part-time Logistics Support Worker with the number of hours worked to be negotiated, along with the salary which will be in the region of £16,500 per annum (full time salary equivalent of 40 hours per week), to reflect the candidate’s experience. Line management will be through EFB Manager, albeit day-to-day tasks will be set by our volunteer management team/trustees, in particular the Store Manager.
The closing date for applications is 30th September 2018, with interviews to be held in October 2018 and the role to commence shortly thereafter.
