Over the past 5 years, the number of 3 days’ worth of emergency food provided by Exeter Foodbank to local people in need has increased by around 73%. This simply isn’t right; no charity can replace the dignity of buying your own food. In our EFB Winter Newsletter we explore the theme of ‘change’ on an individual, community and national level:
- Looking back at 2019, we highlight the incredible generosity, thoughtfulness and commitment of foodbank volunteers, supporters and donors, who have enabled Exeter Foodbank to adapt, grow and ensure no one goes away hungry, despite continually increasing demand.
- We interview one of our foodbank ‘signposters’ and explore the real, immediate difference a listening ear can make in the lives of people who are struggling right now.
- Looking ahead to 2020, we feature State of Hunger – the most comprehensive research study of UK hunger carried out to date – and highlight how the Trussell Trust are using this evidence to campaign on a national level.
We also highlight three key ways in which YOU can get involved to both help change people’s experiences now and create a future where foodbanks are no longer needed.
Thank you very much for all your support in 2019 – and best wishes for a peaceful and happy Christmas
