Refugee Support

22nd April 2022

If you would like to offer support to refugee families and do not know where to begin, then this is a project that we are going to oversee. As a trusted, established and registered charity, we feel well placed to oversee this – and we are asking for no monetary donations for this. Please do not send cash or cheques for this.

Several families are now arriving in Exeter and the surrounding area. They have very little. Some of them literally have only the clothing that they arrive in.

How you can help:
You may remember a couple of years ago that we ran a project where people could give vouchers that we gave to families who needed school uniform or children’s clothes. The support for this was amazing, so we would like to do do something along a similar theme.

If you would like to donate a ‘One for All’ voucher, we promise that this will be passed on to reputable organisations who are working with refugee families. These vouchers can be purchased at many supermarkets or at the Post Office. They can also be purchased online via this link:
People will then have the choice of what to buy. We do not want used clothes. We feel that these families deserve better than our unwanted items. Please do not offer clothes – we are not a collecting hub.

If you would like to support:
Please could you post vouchers to:
Exeter Foodbank
c/o The Mint Methodist Church
Fore Street

We will give these vouchers as appropriate.
We will record all donations and coordinate this in a professional and transparent manner.
We cannot promise to write to everyone who donates as we do not receive your postal address, email or phone number – but please accept our thanks for your support.

We want to help.
We can always offer food to families who need support.
We believe that this is the very best way that we can offer further support in this crisis at this time.
If we receive excessive donations, they will be offered to other foodbanks in the local region who are facing similar issues – but who maybe do not have the public support that we are fortunate enough to receive.
We will keep you posted online about how this is all working and perhaps some of the stories behind the numbers.

Thank you for your support.
